International Alexander Awareness Week, October 10 - 18th, 2009

RESOURCES FOR TEACHERS

October, 2009 marks the sixth annual International Alexander Awareness Week.

In the USA we chose to straddle the week over two weekends giving teachers more of a choice to schedule events. In many areas of the country the Columbus Day Weekend is Autumn Fairs and Harvest Celebrations, a time when many people are out and about.

Good luck, have some fun and please list your event on the EVENTS page.

Here’s how to list your event:

Send email to: Michaela Hauser-Wagner, IAAW Coordinator, at Michaela Hauser-Wagner with details about your event as follows, and we’ll add it to the page.

Please include:

·       Your Name

·       Date and Time of Event

·       Title of talk/event

·       Address, Cost (if any)

·       Contact Information to register

We will link from your name to your contact information on the AmSAT “Find a Teacher” page.

Here are some ideas from previous years.

    • Teachers gave workshops or lecture/demonstrations at a small fee or no charge in various public venues.
    • Training courses had day or week-long “Open House” for visitors.
    • Teachers gave discounted lessons over a several week or one-month period.
    • Teachers made other, special offers in honor of International Alexander Awareness Week.

We are hoping that training courses will open their doors to invite the public.

Increasing public awareness is a gift both to the AT community and to the population overall. Please contribute a little bit of your time, build the strength of the AT community and have some fun!
